PTNN ANNUAL KICKOFF EVENT SCHEDULED FOR SEPT. 10
The Peters Township Newcomers and Neighbors Club( PTNN)— a nonprofit women’ s civics and service organization serving residents of the township for more than 60 years— invites all women to attend its annual kickoff at Valley Brook Country Club on Thursday, Sept. 10, beginning at 6:30 p. m.
Enjoy complimentary hors d’ oeuvres and dessert, as well as a cash bar. Raffle baskets and a silent auction will be available. This annual event is a wonderful way to meet new friends and get involved in the community. Learn more at ptnc. org, where you can also direct any questions to Barb Wehn.
‘ JOY OF CHRISTMAS’ CRAFT SHOW
Get a head start on your holiday shopping at the Joy of Christmas Craft Show on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 a. m. to 3:30 p. m. at Louise de Marillac School and LeGras Parish Center in Upper St. Clair.
The annual event features more than 100 artists and crafters offering unique handmade gifts and seasonal decor, along with a bake sale, crafts raffle, 50 / 50 raffle, and lunch and snacks available for purchase.
Admission is $ 2 and includes a complimentary crafts raffle ticket. Enjoy a festive way to support local artisans and kick off the holiday season!
PT GIRLS TRAVEL BASKETBALL WINS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
The Peters Township 7th grade girls travel basketball team captured the Pennsylvania Middle School State Championship( Gold Division) at Penn State University, defeating Altoona 43 – 38 in a hard-fought title game.
The team showcased determination and teamwork throughout the tournament, earning a well-deserved championship victory.
Members include Avery Pirosko, Cassidy Kutschbach, Charlie Rowlands, Maddy O’ Brien, Maristela Tray, Rylan Rost, Savana Shearer, Tess Dunbar and Sophia DiMarco. They were led by head coach Lindsay Rost and assistant coach Joe Tray, who guided the players through an impressive and memorable season.
KEEP WRIGHT’ S ALIGHT CONCERT
Enjoy an evening of classic country music at the Keep Wright’ s Alight Concert on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 7 p. m. at Wright’ s United Methodist Church, 788 Venetia Road.
The concert is titled“ Cash Only and Friends,” and audiences can enjoy timeless hits made famous by Johnny and June Cash, The Judds, the Carter Family, and other country legends.
A $ 25 donation is requested at the door and may be paid by cash or PayPal, with proceeds benefiting the church.
GIRL SCOUTS 2026 BOARD LEADERSHIP
Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania( GSHPA) announced the 2026 Board Leadership and Committee appointments, welcoming new and returning community leaders who will help guide the organization’ s mission across its 30-county service area.
Renee Mattei Montgomery was named board chair, Adrienne Vicari was appointed board vice chair, and Daniel Sheaffer Jr. will continue serving as treasurer. Several members at large and committee leaders were also appointed to support governance, strategic planning, fundraising and financial oversight.
GSHPA leaders noted that the board’ s expertise and community connections will help expand opportunities for girls to build confidence, develop leadership skills and make a positive impact in their communities.
VA PITTSBURGH HEALTHCARE EARNS FOUR-STAR QUALITY RATING
The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System has received a fourstar rating in the 2026 Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings— a significant improvement from the one star assigned last year.
The ratings evaluate hospitals based on measures that include mortality, safety, readmissions, patient experience, and timely, effective care. VA Pittsburgh leaders credited the achievement to the dedication of staff members and their commitment to providing highquality care for veterans.
The healthcare system serves nearly 80,000 veterans annually through its medical centers and outpatient clinics across Western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. n
