PETERS TOWNSHIP PUBLIC LIBRARY NEWS
Contest winners were announced at an award ceremony during the Summer Reading Kickoff on Saturday, June 7.
The 2-and-a-half by 8-inch artwork shows a vibrant and whimsical image: a tiny astronaut holding onto the handle of a giant brush from outer space, which is painting the earth in a bright rainbow of color.
“ My design encourages people to use their imagination to make the world a brighter and more colorful place,” says the middle school artist who submitted the bookmark.
This entry— a winner in the 6th-8th grade category--was one of a record 306 entries received this spring as part of the Peters Township Public Library’ s second annual bookmark contest, sponsored by the 84 Sign Shop.
Entrants could submit either digital or hand-rendered bookmark designs inspired by the theme for the 2025 Summer Reading Program—“ Color Our World.” Entries featured everything from the planet earth to colorful hot air balloons, paintbrushes to rainbows, abstract designs to flowers and vines.
“ We were once again blown away by the creativity of these talented artists of all ages,” says Sydney Krawiec, Program and Outreach Coordinator at the library.“ We were thrilled that our entries nearly doubled over last year.”
The library worked again with 84 Sign Shop, whose staff assisted the library with judging entries, and also provided the graphic design, printing services, promotion, and awards for this contest. The winners were announced on Saturday, June 7, at the Summer Reading Kickoff party at the library.
