A WINNING COACH After more than four decades of coaching and teaching, Joe Maize retires as head coach for the Peters Township baseball team. BY NICOLE TAFE F or the past 41 years, Joe Maize has helped Peters Township High School’s athletic program become one of the top programs in the WPIAL. This year, the award-winning baseball coach will retire after more than four decades of taking on many different roles, all while being involved with the athletic department throughout his entire PT career. Maize has served the Peters Township School District in the following roles: Physical Education Teacher at PTMS (1978 to 1985), Driver Education/PE teacher at Peters Township HS (1986 to 2013), Assistant Athletic Director under Jerry Debolt (1983 to 1986), Head Girls Basketball Coach (1978), Head Middle School Boys Basketball Coach (1979 to 1986), Head Softball Coach (1978 to 1984), Head Baseball Coach (1985 to 2019), Director of Athletics (1986 to 2006), Middle School Boys Basketball Coach (2012 and 2013), 9th Grade Boys Soccer Coach (2012 and 2013) and Faculty Manager at PTHS (2006 to present). 48 724.942.0940 TO ADVERTISE ❘ icmags.com
