Pathways to Our Sustainable Future
Author visit and book signing Tuesday, Sept. 26, 7 to 8:30 p. m.
Pittsburgh has a rich history of social consciousness in calls for justice and equity. Today, the movement for more sustainable practices is rising in Pittsburgh. Using Pittsburgh-based case studies, author Patty DeMarco offers a vision of what life could look like in a fossil fuel-free future through a discussion of her book, Pathways to Our Sustainable Future: A Global Perspective from Pittsburgh. DeMarco is a visiting research professor at Carnegie Mellon, and an Institute for Green Science Senior Scholar at Chatham University. She has spent a 30-year career in energy and environmental policy in both private and public sector positions, including Commissioner of the Regulatory Commission of Alaska and Demand Side Manager for the Connecticut Municipal Electric Energy Cooperative. She is a former Executive Director of the Rachel Carson Homestead Association and Director of the Rachel Carson Institute at Chatham.

This workshop, being offered in partnership with the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency( PHEAA), will help college-bound seniors and their parents in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid( FAFSA ®) by providing an overview of each step of the form.
