PETERS TOWNSHIP FARMERS
MARKET OFFERS FARM-TOTABLE FUN
The third annual Peters Township
Farmers Market opened on May 18 with
over 30 vendors, local entertainment,
dining and a new Healthy Eating Series
geared toward children.
Fresh produce from five different
farmers, eggs, milk, bread, cheese,
beef/chicken/pork, pasta, cured meat,
condiments, wine, jams/dips, olive oil/
vinegars, honey, hummus, maple syrup,
organic fresh-pressed juice, fresh-cut
flowers, prepared foods and sweet treats
such as kettle corn, shaved ice, pies,
cookies, biscotti and more are all available
at the market. Local artisans also offer
handmade home and body care products,
jewelry and more.
This year’s new Healthy Eating Series
feature is geared toward kids and families
to help further educate them on making
healthy eating choices, why buying fresh/
local is important, and to teach kids where
their food comes from. The market offers
tours that give customers the chance
to visit local farms, including Freedom
Farms, Logan Family Farms and Kern
Farms, to learn more about how their
food is grown. Nutrition experts conduct
kid-focused, engaging activities and fun
food challenges at the market. Pittsburgh
Farm to Table and Pathways to Smartcare
Wellness host a local food challenge to
engage kids on buying local and eating
fresh produce.
Additionally, live entertainment
from local performers, area children’s
groups and chef cooking demos from
local restaurants and culinary schools
are featured each week. If you’re
interested in performing, please send a
message via the Facebook page or email
[email protected].
The Peters Township Farmers Market
is held every Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m.
at St. David’s Episcopal Church located at
905 E. McMurray Road, Venetia 15367.
The market will continue through
Nov. 23.
