On National Unicorn Day, we celebrate all things Unicorn. Join
us for a magical storytime, craft, and activities. Open to Unicorn
fans of all ages.
BIOBLITZ
Sunday, April 14, 2 to 4 p.m.
Peters Township Community Recreation Center
Search for biodiversity – the variety of animals and plants - at
Peterswood Park. Family and friends are invited to join us as we
look for birds, mammals, flowers, reptiles, insects, and more.
Catalog your findings using the iNaturalist app. Contact the
Youth Services Department for more information about this
unique opportunity to learn more about what’s living in our park.
BACKYARD WILDERNESS PROJECT
The library has received an
amazing exhibit which highlights
the biodiversity all around us
every day. Visitors of all ages can
explore this interactive display
and to search for plants and
animals commonly found in your
own backyard. Ask our Youth
Services staff for more
information. The display will be
available through mid-April.
2019 SUMMER READING KICK OFF!
A UNIVERSE OF STORIES
This year is the 100th anniversary of Children’s Book Week. Help
us celebrate with activities focused on reading and writing. Each
time you visit the library or vote for your favorite book, you will
have a chance to win an awesome prize basket! Get a free book
just for attending our programs this week.
On Monday, April 29 we will kick off Children’s Book Week with
these activities:
Book Making Center: Create your own mini book or bookmark
in the library lobby.
Coloring Center: Color pictures of your favorite book characters.
Book Voting: See our display of the most circulated children’s
books from 2018 and vote for your favorite.
BOOK COOKS: IF YOU GIVE A PIG A PANCAKE
Monday, April 29, 6 to 7 p.m.
Join us for a delicious storytime as we read a story and then put
on aprons and make some yummy pancakes! Registration is
required as materials are limited.
COCK-A-DOODLE-OOPS!
Tuesday, April 30, 1 p.m.
Cock-a-Doodle-Oops! author Lori Degman will be joining us via a
live Skype chat during our preschool storytime. All are welcome
to join us.
PEN PALS WRITING WORKSHOP
Ages: Grades 4 through 7
2 weeks, May 1 and 15, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Join local author Jim O’Brien for a two-part writing workshop.
You will feel smarter and more confident when you learn how
to tell your own stories with advice from a professional writer.
Parents are asked to be present at both sessions to reinforce and
support the learning at home.
HARRY POTTER FAMILY FEUD TRIVIA CHALLENGE

Challenge fellow library friends to an all-ages Harry Potter family
feud. Prizes and wizard treats will be provided.

Get ready to blast off to a summer of outer-space fun at the
library. Come sign up for our summer reading program and join
us for some activities that are out of this world! Jet from Ready
Jet Go will be at the library, and magician Al Mazing will take the
stage at noon for his Alien Magic Reading show.
Summer Reading Program for grades K through 6 will run eight
weeks from June 24 through August 16. Cost to register is $5
per child.
