2017 CHILDREN’ S SUMMER READING PROGRAM Seven weeks, June 25 through Aug. 17 Cost: $ 5, payable at registration Pennsylvania is transforming their traditional summer reading program to a new initiative: Summer Learning. Join us for a summer of exploration as we read, complete fun STEM and STEAM activities, engage in music, arts, and more! Participants will have the opportunity to earn different badges both at the library and for doing activities with their families. Registration begins at the Summer Reading Kick Off Party on Saturday, June 2. Check our website for more details as summer approaches!

Please register at the Youth Services Desk unless otherwise noted. Call or stop by the Youth Services Desk to sign up for weekly children’ s programs from birth to Grade 6. The spring session runs eight weeks, April 9 through May 25.
For Grades Kindergarten and Up
MAGIC TREE HOUSE BOOK CLUB Ages: Kindergarten and up Saturdays, 10 to 10:45 a. m. April 7: A Big Day for Baseball May 5: Danger in the Darkest Hour
FIRST LEGO LEAGUE JR. Ages: 6 to 10 First and Third Wednesdays of the Month, 6:30 to 7:30 p. m.
HOMESCHOOLERS’ GROUP Ages: All ages with a parent Second and Fourth Wednesdays of the Month, 2:30 to 3:30 p. m. Share your experiences and get great tips at this twice a month homeschoolers’ group. While the parents facilitate their own idea swap, their multi-age children will participate in an enrichment class. Register at the Youth Services Desk. Walk-ins are welcome.
CHESS WITH A CHAMPION Ages: Grades 1 through 6 Third Tuesday of the Month, 6:30 to 7:30 p. m. Join Mr. Pete, a champion chess player, while he offers free instruction and tips to children of all skill levels. Register at the Youth Services Desk.
CHINESE FOR CHILDREN Ages: Grades 2 through 8 Thursdays, May 3 through 24, 5 to 6 p. m. Cost: $ 35 This class will combine Mandarin Chinese lessons and an extensive range of culture activities to make sure our students get the most out of their experience at Chinese language. This class is designed with the idea that children learn best from the content which is relevant to their everyday lives. The basic pronunciation, meaningful characters, phrases, sentence structures, writing, and cultures will be introduced in the program. Beginners are welcome. PEN & INK WATERCOLOR DRAWING Ages: 6 ½ to 13 4 weeks, April 3 through 24 Tuesdays, 4 to 5:30 p. m. Limit: 15 children Cost: $ 20 plus supplies Students will learn basic watercolor drawing techniques with pen and ink. Register at the Circulation Desk. Please see supply list when registering.
COLORED PENCIL DRAWING Ages: 6 ½ to 13 4 weeks, May 8 through 29 Tuesdays, 4 to 5:30 p. m. Limit: 15 children Cost: $ 20 plus supplies Students will learn basic drawing techniques with colored pencils. Register at the Circulation Desk. Please see supply list when registering.
