PITTSBURGH CHINESE ACADEMY CELEBRATES CHINESE NEW YEAR
Pittsburgh Chinese Academy( PCA) held its annual New Year celebration on Sunday, Jan. 29. All class levels performed songs, skits, poetry and more. The event featured a Kung Fu presentation and artwork displayed from the academy’ s art culture class. Kathy Li and Andrew Zhang emceed the talent show and narrated in both Chinese and English. Additional solo performances were given by Kathy Li, who recited a poem called“ Song of Mulan,” Jackson Bushe, who played“ Great Balls of Fire” on the piano, Maggie Chen, who played“ Accolay” and Yingzhi Lv, who played” Storm.”
After the performances, all guests enjoyed a feast of authentic Chinese cuisine including homemade dumplings and hot tea. PCA’ s event also included a basket raffle, games, crafts and chess for the guests.
ABOUT PITTSBURGH CHINESE ACADEMY – SOUTH HILLS
PCA is a nonprofit, non-denominational, independent school located in McMurray at Center Presbyterian Church, with classes held on Sunday afternoons from 2 to 4:30 p. m. Over the past nine years, PCA has been providing Mandarin Chinese language and culture classes using Pin Yin, a phonetic system, and simplified Chinese characters to children from diverse backgrounds and multiple school districts in the South Hills and surrounding communities.
