For more than 50 years, Peters Township
native Bill Loughman, Jr. continues to
play and teach guitar at his local studio.
The walls of his studio are filled with
autographed pictures of musical guests,
actors and news anchors he has met over the
years, including Chet Atkins, his inspiration
and hero.
While he plays and teaches a variety of
music including classical, contemporary and
jazz, his favorite is rock and roll. Playing music
is a great way to meet people and make many
new friends, according to Loughman, and he

On Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, PTHS senior
Elise Anne Dowdall was honored at the
53rd annual Medallion Ball, hosted by
St. Lucy’s Auxiliary to the Blind. Escorted
by her brother Aidan, she was recognized
for exceeding more than 150 hours of
community service and was presented
with the Joan of Arc Medallion by
Bishop David Zubik.
Elise volunteered at St. Benedict the
Abbot, Peters Public Library, Watchful
Shepherd and Peters Township Meals on
Wheels. She is also a member of the
National Honor Society, a Student
Ambassador, co-captain of the varsity
dance team and has been involved with
the PTHS swim team and track and
field. In addition, she is a member of
Perfection All Stars Senior Hip-Hop.
Elise is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Peter G. Dowdall of McMurray. She
will attend college in the fall and plans
to major in business and pre-law.

RACE TO BREAK THE
CYCLE OF CHILD ABUSE
On Sunday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to noon,
Watchful Shepherd USA will partner with
PULSE, a state-of-the-art fitness studio
located at 3339 Washington Road in Peters
Township, for the “Race to Break the Cycle
of Child Abuse” fundraiser. Simply register for
the race by donating $100 as an individual or
$500 as a team.
Each bike will have a team of five. The race
will consist of 15-minute heats with all team
members riding relay-style, sharing a stationary
bike. Recruit your friends, family members and
colleagues to join you in person, on a team or
by donating in your name.

The Little Gym of Pittsburgh-South
Hills was recently awarded the prestigious
President’s Circle Award. This distinction
recognizes top performing gyms that excel
in three key areas: delivering a positive
experience for children and their families,
attracting new customers and retaining
existing customers by creating a loyal
customer base. The winning franchise names
were announced at the company’s 21st annual
“Reunion” conference held March 2 through
March 5 at The Rancho Bernardo Inn in
San Diego, CA.
The 2017 Reunion program focused on
