TOWN HALL SOUTH ANNOUNCES 2017-18 SPEAKER SERIES
Town Hall South is a philanthropic organization dedicated to bringing nationally and internationally acclaimed lecturers to the South Hills of Pittsburgh.
Founded in 1969 as an outreach program of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair, Town Hall South continues to function as a self-sustaining entity under the gracious auspices of the church.
Annually, a portion of proceeds is awarded as grants to a wide variety of local organizations in the surrounding community.

ALLEGHENY COUNTY ANNOUNCES SATURDAY HOURS FOR MARRIAGE LICENSES AND PASSPORTS THROUGH OCT. 28
The county’ s marriage license and passport office will offer Saturday hours over the summer to accommodate requests for more convenience. Begun in April and running through October, the office will be open 9 a. m. to 4 p. m. on Saturdays. These hours are in addition to the office’ s regular hours of 8:30 a. m. to 4:30 p. m., Monday through Friday. Marriage license services are available to residents of any county who are intending to marry in Pennsylvania. The marriage license process includes completing an application and appearing at the marriage license office. No appointment is necessary. Applications will not be processed after 4 p. m. on weekdays or after 3:30 p. m. on Saturdays.
Passport services are available to all U. S. citizens, regardless of county or state of residence. First-time applicants for a passport book or passport card must complete and submit an application in person, along with proof of U. S. citizenship, proof of identity and two photographs. Children’ s applications have additional requirements. Unlike other passport locations, no appointment is necessary at the Allegheny County passport office. PUBLIC DEFENDER’ S OFFICE WARNING OF PHONE SCAM
The Public Defender’ s Office is warning of a phone scam in which a caller, claiming to be an employee of the office, calls a person and says that a family member has been arrested. The caller indicates that he / she can help get the person out of jail, but needs to be sent money for that to happen.
The Public Defender’ s Office does not phone or contact family members of a person who has been arrested, nor does the office
take money to arrange for bond. Anyone who is receiving such calls should not provide any information or details to the caller, nor should they pay any money.
Information that has been provided by the individuals who have received such a call has been forwarded to the Allegheny County Police Department, which is investigating.
COUNTY POOLS OPEN FOR THE SEASON
The Allegheny County Parks Department announced that the Boyce Park Wave Pool, North Park Swimming Pool & Spray Park, Settlers Cabin Park Wave Pool & Dive Pool, and South Park Wave Pool opened for the season on Saturday, June 3. Daily hours of operation are 11:30 a. m.-7:30 p. m., weather and conditions permitting. If a pool does not open by 2 p. m. due to inclement weather, it will remain closed for the remainder of the day.

Rafts will be available for rent at all four pools with a daily rate of $ 4 for county residents and $ 5 for non-residents, including a $ 1 deposit. Coin lockers are available for $ 0.25.
Free swimming lessons based on American Red Cross guidelines will be offered for ages 6 and older at each pool. The popular“ Pooches in the Pool” event on Labor Day will take place at all four pools this year. The parks department is also expanding programming at all four pools by offering yoga and fitness classes, as well as preschool aquatics and kids boot camps.
