Hip to Be Square !

Located on the riverfront in the center of Pittsburgh , the historic district of Station Square features a variety of ethnic restaurants and cuisine .

In the late 19th century , Station Square was the meeting point for passengers arriving on the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad , which ran from Youngstown to Pittsburgh . Today , Station Square welcomes more than 3 million tourists every year , from across the country and the world .

It ’ s easily accessible by car , doubledecker bus , light-rail transit and even by boat with the Landing & Marina . The Gateway Clipper Fleet also docks there . But if you ’ ve only visited the Square during the day or ventured out for a night of partying with friends , you may have missed an opportunity .
Station Square has become a great place for a romantic evening or a special night out . With a variety of cuisine , including Italian , Japanese , Brazilian , Southern , and seafood , plus the historic Grand Concourse built in 1901 , there ’ s something for everyone .
The recently opened Terrene and Tupelo Honey restaurants help round out the field of dinner choices .
After dinner , there are plenty of options , whether you prefer live music or a visit to the dancing lighted fountains of Bessemer Court and a stroll along the river . On Friday and Saturday evenings until October , you can also take a carriage ride through the Square .
The city lights are a spectacular sight at night . The station for the Monongahela Incline is just across the street from Station Square , and you can take a slow , leisurely ride to the top of Mount Washington for one-of-a-kind views .
If you want to make your evening an overnight experience , a Sheraton hotel is on-site for a weekend getaway without leaving the city .
If you haven ’ t visited Station Square lately , you may want to experience it looking through a whole different lens . n
