MOVIE TIME AT THE VERONA HISTORICAL SOCIETY!
If you’ re looking for something fun to do on a cold winter night, the Verona Historical Society has interesting movie showings.
On Jan. 15, at 7 p. m., it will present the WQED movie,“ A Cemetery Special,” narrated by Rick Sebak. On Feb. 19, also at 7 p. m., the WQED film,“ Bedford Springs— Opening History’ s Door,” will be the feature. Besides catching a couple of shows, you may want to plan a visit to view the artifacts and photos collection.
You can take a short stroll through history when you hold centuries-old artifacts in your hands. The past comes alive again when we hear the stories of those who’ ve come before. To plan your visit, check out veronahistory. org.

A MAGICAL TIME AT THE KERR MUSEUM
It’ s that magical time of year again at the Kerr home! Celebrate the season with a tour and learn about the wonderful holiday traditions that were common at the end of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The mansion will be trimmed with mistletoe, pine garland and other authentic period decor, including kugels( silvered glass ornaments from Germany) and Dresdens, the famous porcelain ornaments. The” Kerr family” will be making merry and enjoying plum pudding.

EVENTS AT THE MORROW BARN
There are fun events at the Morrow Barn located at 237 Jefferson Road in Penn Hills! The historic 18th century barn is the meeting place for the Penn Hebron Garden Club, but it’ s also the scene of great entertainment. The venue brings blues, jazz, rock, bluegrass and country acts into the area.
Besides being a great place to catch a variety of professional bands, the barn can also be rented out for private events— a charming rustic location for wedding, graduation, retirement and birthday parties.

FUN IN CRESCENT HILLS!
If you live in the Crescent Hills area of Penn Hills, the Crescent Hills Civic Association is a great organization to know about.
This group was formed in 1935 and helps support local parks and trails, and engages in other activities to support the community, with more than 30 fundraisers and events throughout the year. DID YOU KNOW?
Frank Saddler was a composer, orchestrator and conductor, known for his work on Broadway, who has some roots in Verona. He orchestrated the scores to more than 60 Broadway musicals between 1909 and 1921. This was more than any other in history. George Gershwin dubbed Saddler“ the Father of Modern Arranging.”
Saddler moved to Verona when he was 8 years old, and lived on Clawson Street while attending area schools. Later he worked at a music store and performed in a variety of concerts in Pittsburgh as a violinist. n
