Honor and Trust

Charles W . Trenz Funeral Home is a family-owned and operated establishment that has built a relationship of trust with the community of Penn Hills .

“ My father started Trenz Funeral Home in 1967 and we ’ ve been serving families in the eastern suburbs ever since ,” explains Chuck Trenz . “ Many families in Penn Hills entrust the care of their loved ones to us , and we ’ re honored to be there for them .”
Years of experience with families and a desire to be there for them has led Charles W . Trenz to design services that meet the needs of everyone involved , honoring their preferences and particular situations . There are conventional services that include burial or cremation and the traditional visitation , but also options for non-traditional funeral services , which may not include a visitation , or may not have a religious element .
“ We are very active in helping veterans ’ families , and can help with arrangements for burial flags , gun salutes and those who wish to have their loved one buried in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies for veterans ,” Chuck adds .
Some individuals are choosing a green burial , which would forgo any type of metal encasement in favor of a biodegradable wicker casket or simple shroud . Charles W . Trenz Funeral Home can help navigate this relatively new type of burial . The staff also can guide families whose loved ones have chosen to donate their remains for the cause of science in completing all the necessary paperwork and requirements .

“ One of our most important commitments is to help the family memorialize their loved one . We try to approach this calling as a celebration of life ,” says Chuck . “ We assist and encourage families in finding the best way to express their devotion to their loved one .” The memorialization may take the form of a picture display , a video , prayer cards , online or published obituaries , or other personalized remembrances that are unique to the individual . Charles W . Trenz Funeral Home can also assist in finding a celebrant for the service , including a non-religious speaker .
After the service , there are materials made available by Chuck and his staff to help family members through the grief process , as well as a list of counseling services and support groups to continue their journey of healing .
It ’ s not uncommon to hear people lamenting the high cost of funeral services , but Charles W . Trenz Funeral Home offers financially responsible services that are a welcome change from other services .
Another help in avoiding inflationary costs is to prepay for services , with the cost locked in at today ’ s rates . It also ensures that everything is carried out exactly as desired . The funds submitted for prepaying are completely controlled by the family , not the funeral home , and may be transferred to another funeral home if needed . Chuck Trenz continues to live in the area . He currently serves on the board of Hebron Community Center . He is a past president of the Penn Hills Chamber of Commerce , Penn Hills Kiwanis , and Friends of Penn Hills Parks . Mr . Trenz continues to provide professional and caring funeral services in Penn Hills to those in need .
