CELEBRATE AMERICA’ S 250TH @ THE NORWIN LIBRARY!

July 4th, 2025 will mark the 250th birthday of the United States of America. The library will be celebrating all year with informative programs about the U. S. and our little corner of it.
We’ re planning a virtual tour of the Museum of the American Revolution, a visit from one of our Founding Mothers, Abigail Adams, a history of Hannastown during the Revolution, and other themed book groups and programs to celebrate America.

CHILDREN’ S PROGRAMS
Stuffies Night Out
Wednesday, Jan. 2 at 6 p. m.
Bring your favorite stuffed animal for a fun night of stories and activities for children of all ages. This month’ s theme is puppets! Join in the fun making and playing with these whimsical toys.
Wicked Fun
Saturday, Jan. 31 at 11 a. m.
Are you a fan of the movie Wicked? We are too! Join us for some Wicked themed activities with other fans of the blockbuster hit. Have any Wicked costumes and accessories? We’ ll be wearing ours. This program is for Pre-K and up.
Love of Reading!
Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 6 p. m. We love reading and games! Why not combine the two? Play some phonics
based games to get your child reading better and easier. This is a family oriented event. All children who need some extra practice are welcome to attend.
Dr. Seuss’ Birthday
Monday, March 2 at 6 p. m.
Celebrate the birthday of the one and only Dr. Seuss and the beginning of Read Across America week at the library. Will it be goofy? Will it be silly? Will it be fun? Yes, yes, and yes! Program is designed for Pre-K and up.
Craft Knights
Monday, March 9 at 6 p. m. Craft Knights is a great time to get artsy, crafty, and maybe a little bit messy. We’ ll be working with dry clay this month. All supplies will be provided.
Evening Baby Moove and Groove
Wednesday, March 25 at 5:30 p. m.
All the fun of our Baby Moove and Groove at a time more friendly to working parents. Babies and toddlers will engage in songs, stories, fingerplays, motion, and play time. Ages 2 ½ and under. The action takes place on the floor, so bring your child’ s favorite blanket or pillow.

Pushing the Limits
Tuesday, February 3 at 6 p. m.

Valentine Origami
Saturday, February 7 at 2 p. m.
Learn to make roses and vases from the pages of old books. All materials are provided. Ages 16 and up.
Booked Solid
Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 6 p. m.
Our new book discussion group is called Booked Solid and will be reading more“ serious” literary fiction. Think Margaret Atwood rather than Danielle Steele. “ Shamrock Roots”: Genealogy Program
Tuesday, March 10 at 6 p. m.
An Irish heritage / genealogy program that explains the rich Irish culture and its impact on American history. Learn how Irish Americans can trace their ancestral“ roots.” Participants will receive materials to begin their own searches.
United States Trivia Night
Thursday, March 26 at 6:30 p. m.
Do you have what it takes to answer 50 questions about U. S. history? This is a team competition with teams of five. Bring your team or we’ ll match you up.
Hannastown History
Thursday, April 23 at 6 p. m. Did you know Hannastown was once the seat of government for Westmoreland County and the first courthouse was in a tavern? History teacher Mike Giorgianni gives us a bit of the astonishing history of Hannastown.
