N orwin School District’s 2018 Homecoming included a full lineup of activities for the Greater Norwin community. Festivities kicked off at a September 19th banquet sponsored by the Norwin Student Council to honor the Homecoming Court and their guests. The Eighth-Annual Athletic Hall of Fame program followed on Thursday, September 20, 2018, honoring ten individuals and four teams. The inductees included: • Individuals: Ben Bailley (Basketball), Brad Bouldin (Volleyball), Mike Ferragonio (Volleyball), Nicky Garrity (Soccer), Rachel Kalberer (Volleyball, Track), Carol Muentzer-Henderson (Track) Damon Pietronigro (Swimming), Dan Priatko (Contributor, Football), Tom Savage (Basketball), Tim Tray (Track) • Teams: The 1977 Boys Basketball team, the 1977 Boys Cross Country team, the 1987 Girls Volleyball team, & the 1988 Girls Volleyball team. The Hall of Fame recognizes people who have brought pride and prestige to the Norwin School District athletic program and community, either as a player, coach, administrator, or community contributor. The Hall of Fame Executive Committee is chaired by Brandon Rapp and consists of Les Harvath, Andy Phipps, Tom Shirley, Tom Shrump, and Jay Zahorchak. On Friday, September 21st, Norwin High School clubs, classes, and sports teams presented a family-style carnival prior to kick-off in the large gym. Activities included games with prizes, bouncy houses, a dunk tank, and food truck vendors. Student Council sponsored four large inflatables in the Large Gymnasium during the carnival. Proceeds raised at the carnival benefitted the Castle Keep – an organization designed to benefit Knights in need. Following the carnival, the High School Football Team took on the Pine-Richland Rams, with the coronation of this year’s Homecoming king, queen, and presentation of the court taking place at halftime. The activities continued Saturday, September 22, 2018, with the annual Homecoming Parade through downtown Irwin presented by the High School Student Council. Later that evening, the weekend concluded with the annual Homecoming Dance. Mr. Patrick M.
