A Fresh,
New Take on
Working Out
I
f you love physical fitness, but aren’t
so fond of the atmosphere of the
local gym, iLoveKickboxing.com is
something you should be looking at.
A national franchise with a web address for
a name, iLoveKickboxing.com is more of a group
fitness studio than a gym, built on camaraderie and
accountability, and engineered to help you get the best
workout around.
“It’s a studio that’s big on helping people achieve
their goals,” said Tracy Manfredo, owner. “We want
people to come in regularly, not just get a membership
and disappear. So if we notice that you haven’t been in
for a while, we’ll be calling you to see if you’re OK and if
there’s anything we can do to help out.”
From cardio and resistance to endurance building,
the 1-hour classes are results oriented and taught by
instructors who are the best in the business, and two are
certified nutritionists.
Class sizes are small – around 15 to 20 people – and each
participant gets his/her own punching bag. Manfredo
said the emphasis is on exercise, and although you’re
not doing actual combat here, this class will launch your
health and fitness to a whole new level.
Perhaps the best part is that, unlike other gyms where
you’re thrown to the wolves when you’re a new member,
iLoveKickboxing.com members are introduced to their
first class with only two new members per class. Each
class has a main instructor and a “floater” to help new
members and to ensure that seasoned members are
doing things properly. You even get a free bottle of
water each time you come to make sure you stay hydrated.
“There’s a lot of negativity out there in the fitness
world anymore,” Manfredo said. “You don’t see a
positive environment, and here, we have men and
women coming in and helping each other. There’s
no self-consciousness. People are comfortable here,
regardless of their size, shape or demographics. Plus,
any stress you may have from the day you can take out
on a punching bag. Who doesn’t love that!”

Outside of the gym, iLoveKickboxing.com’s Facebook
page – a private group for members only – is another
encouraging environment where members can
get questions answered or just pop in for some
motivation. There are also monthly theme parties
where members can dress up and enjoy a live DJ while
they’re working out.
In keeping with that positive atmosphere,
iLoveKickboxing.com is also very active when it
comes to contests and charity work. There’s a national
transformation contest every year, with a $20,000 grand
prize. Every month, a different charity is chosen and
the studio collects donations for that cause. Charities
range from animal causes to breast cancer awareness to
children’s causes, and every member makes a difference
in their own way over the course of the month.
