MISSION OF MERCY PITTSBURGH FREE DENTAL AND HEARING CLINIC
Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh will host its ninth annual free dental and hearing clinic Oct. 16 – 17 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Downtown Pittsburgh, providing essential care to individuals and families who lack access to affordable services. The event will offer dental exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions and root canals, along with hearing evaluations and free hearing aids.
New this year is an expanded partnership with UPMC Vision Institute that will connect patients in need of vision care to a follow-up Community Vision Day on Oct. 18, offering eye exams and free eyeglasses.
Supported by hundreds of volunteers, the health clinic continues to meet a growing need in the region, providing life-changing care while helping patients connect to long-term health care resources.
PITTSBURGH POWER & FITNESS FESTIVAL
The Pittsburgh Power & Fitness Festival returned May 16 – 17 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Downtown Pittsburgh, bringing together elite athletes and fitness enthusiasts for a high-energy event.
Featuring competitions in bodybuilding, strongman, powerlifting, martial arts, wrestling and more— along with a large-scale fitness expo of more than 100 vendors— the festival also included the IFBB Pro League Pittsburgh Pro competition with $ 415,000 in prize money on the line.
New additions this year were expanded competitions, educational seminars and national-level events, further establishing the festival as a premier fitness showcase in the region.
NEW MUSIC FESTIVAL IN CREIGHTON IN JULY
The inaugural Pittsburgh Music Festival will take place July 11 – 12 at Pittsburgh Brewing Company, bringing together a wide range of local musicians for a celebration of music and community.
Organized by longtime Pittsburgh music leaders, the event will feature multiple stages, diverse genres and a strong lineup of regional talent, while raising funds and awareness for Band Together Pittsburgh and Autism Pittsburgh.

NORTH PITTSBURGH QUILTERS GUILD TO HOST QUILT SHOW
The North Pittsburgh Quilters Guild( NPQG) is hosting a quilt show celebrating 250 years of the USA Sept. 11 – 13 at Ross Township Community Center, 1000 Ross Municipal Drive.
The hours will be from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 4 p. m. on Sunday. Admission is $ 10. The show will have vendors, raffle baskets, a raffle quilt and a Treasure Chest filled with fabric and other quilting items.
NPQG is a nonprofit whose main goal is to further the quilting skills and knowledge of its members through programming, local and national speakers, workshops, lectures and a sewing retreat. The guild also participates in community service projects including making quilts for foster children, Quilts of Valor, blankets for women’ s shelters and items for cancer patients.
The guild was founded in 1981 when women from a community college quilting class decided they wanted to continue to learn and grow as a group. Members are all ages and levels of experience, and the group is always looking for new members who want to enhance their quilting journey.

MAJOR FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN FOR CARNEGIE MUSEUMS
Carnegie Museums has publicly launched its $ 500 million“ ALL TOGETHER” campaign to support its four institutions— the Carnegie Museum of Art, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Kamin Science Center and The Andy Warhol Museum.
The campaign will fund new exhibits, educational programs and improved visitor experiences, while revitalizing facilities and expanding access to collections. It aims to strengthen the museums’ impact across the region for generations to come and has already raised $ 360 million to date. n
