A Year of Growth in Workforce Development
Preparing students for life beyond graduation requires more than coursework. It requires meaningful experiences, strong connections, and opportunities to explore the world beyond the classroom. This school year, Norwin’ s Workforce Development initiatives grew in both scope and impact, giving students expanded access to career exploration and real-world skill development. Throughout the year, students participated in on site Discovery Days, job shadows, internships, career fairs, panel discussions, and field trips across a variety of pathways, including healthcare, finance, engineering, construction, manufacturing, marketing, digital technology, and public safety.
Over the course of the year, Norwin’ s Workforce Development program saw meaningful growth in our local partnerships. We expanded connections with businesses, healthcare organizations, and community agencies that are committed to supporting student success. These partnerships created additional opportunities for career exploration, workplace experiences, and mentorship, while ensuring our programs remain aligned with the needs of the regional workforce. Many workforce development partners were active participants in our Junior Class Career Fair and Senior Step-Up day in May where students had the opportunity to interact
directly with professionals and learn about local opportunities as they prepare for their senior year.
Career awareness efforts also spanned grade levels. Middle school students explored career pathways through classroom activities, career-focused sessions, panel discussions, and project-based learning experiences.
Elementary students were introduced to careers through classroom presentations and collaborations with CWCTC programs. Moving forward, we will continue to expand and strengthen these experiences at each level, ensuring students have consistent and meaningful exposure to career exploration throughout their educational journey.
Norwin Workforce Development is thankful to the partners who also supported educators through professional development, classroom engagement, and curricular alignment. By sharing industry insights and real-world connections, they help ensure classroom learning reflects current workforce expectations while better preparing students for future success.
As we look ahead, our focus will be on expanding internship opportunities, increasing access to industry credentials, and strengthening partnerships. Together, we are preparing students with the skills, confidence, and experiences they need to succeed in the future.

Preparing for Kindergarten Norwin Young Knights Program
Will your preschooler be ready for Kindergarten? Plan to attend the Young Knights preschool transition program next school year! Young Knights is Norwin’ s preschool transition program designed to help families transition easily from preschool to kindergarten. The program teams with local preschools and invites families to attend three evening sessions throughout the school year to gain valuable insight into the readiness skills for future success in kindergarten. Each session focuses on different skills and families are encouraged to attend all three sessions.
Sessions for the 2026-2027 school year will be held on:
• Thursday November 12, 2026
• Wednesday February 17, 2027
• Tuesday April 13, 2027 Registration is required for each session and will open on the district website approximately 6 weeks before each session.
