Norwin Students Excel at 2018 SkillsUSA State Competition Senior Citizens’ Dinner Draws More than 400 People from Norwin Community More than 400 senior citizens enjoyed the 32nd annual Senior Citizens Dinner on Sunday, April 22, 2018. Norwin Student Council hosted this free dinner and program, which has become a staple of the Norwin community. With the 2018 theme of “The Golden Years: Thank You for Being a Friend,” the Norwin Student Council thanked the community’s seniors by celebrating them and by establishing multi-generational friendships. In addition to a delightful meal, seniors were treated to performances from Norwin’s Show Choir and Select Orchestra and were welcome to participate in Door Prize Raffle. Teachers Mr. Patrick MacLaughlin and Mr. Kevin Chitester co-direct the Student Council at the High School. • Show Choir Wins First Place at Music in the Parks Competition • The Norwin Show Choir recently competed in the Music in the Parks Competition in Cincinnati, Ohio. The students won First Place in the Show Choir Division, the Overall High School Choir Award, and the Esprit de Corps Award—an award for being outstanding on and off the stage. In addition to these group awards, junior James Stanley won the Outstanding Soloist Award (solo in Jump, Jive ‘an Wail). The Show Choir is led by Norwin High School Choir Director Mrs. Bridget Faulk.
