Norwin also had a number of student-athletes who competed at the WPIAL individual track championships , with many qualifying for the state track championships . The following Norwin studentathletes qualified for the state track and field championships based on their achievements at the WPIAL championships . Listed first is their event , and then in parentheses is how they placed in that event at the WPIAL championships .

Additionally , Norwin School District would like to recognize the efforts of Kurtis Phipps , who had an outstanding record of achievement as a Freshman wrestler during the 2016-2017 season . Kurtis captured a WPIAL Gold Medal in the 106-pound bracket and also finished seventh in the PIAA state wrestling tournament . His accomplishments came after press time for the spring edition .
