CELEBRATE AMERICA’ S 250TH @ THE NORWIN LIBRARY!

SUMMER READING REGISTRATION BEGINS THURSDAY, MAY 14 AT NOON!
Dinosaurs are back! For the 2026 Summer Reading Program we’ re going to“ Unearth A Story” from the past. We’ ll be digging fossils, learning about dinosaurs, and celebrating America’ s 250th birthday!
Summer reading will run from Saturday, June 13 to Saturday, Aug. 1. We’ re planning activities and presentations for children of all ages. Contests, treats, special guests, and prizes are all part of our paleolithic plans!

Outside the Box Labs Fossil Search
Saturday, June 13 at 11 a. m. and 12:30 p. m.
We bring the fossil bed to you. Learn about life 300 million years ago as we dig for fossils just like the pros!
Alf Museum of Paleontology Virtual Tour
Monday, June 22 at 2 p. m. Get a first hand view of the amazing Alf Museum. A guide will show us their extensive collection of fossils and what Jurassic World was truly like. There will be take-home prizes for attendees.
Hamilton Trivia
Thursday, July 2 at 6 p. m.
Gather your team to see how much you know about Alexander Hamilton and the Hamilton! musical. Prizes awarded to top finishers.
Sheldon the Tortoise
Wednesday, July 8 at 2 p. m. Tortoises have been on earth for over 200 million years! Petland Norwin will be bringing Sheldon for a visit and pictures.
Veteran Visit
Monday, July 13 at 6 p. m.
We are honored to have two local Marine Veterans stop by to talk about their military experiences, plus an American craft to share with someone who has served.
Citizen Science Lab
Monday, July 20 at 11 a. m.
Hands on STEM activities that explore the earth and everything beneath. There may even be a sweet treat for everyone.
End of Summer Fest
Saturday, August 1 at 11 a. m.
Let’ s go out with a Roar! Dinosaurthemed games, crafts, and Mike the Balloon Guy.
ADULT PROGRAMS
Hanna’ s Town Resolves
Thursday, April 23 at 6 p. m.
Local historian Mike Giorgianni will discuss the Hanna’ s Town Resolves, a document written by the citizens of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, during the Revolutionary War.
Cooking Demonstration with Chef G
Monday, April 27 at 6 p. m.
Chef Greg Nemchick of the WCCC demonstrates a Chinese Peruvian stir-fry dish. Chef G will guide you through each step, show proper knife techniques, and high-heat cooking methods.
Paleontologist Lindsay Kastroll
Wednesday, May 27 at 6 p. m.
What better way to kick off our Dinosaur Summer Reading than a visit with paleontologist and“ Dino Fanatic” Lindsay Kastroll?
An Evening with Abigail Adams
Monday, June 15 at 6 p. m.
In celebration of the 250th anniversary of America, we’ re hosting Abigail Adams! Learn about her life during the Revolution and with her husband.
