SUMMER READING REGISTRATION BEGINS MONDAY, MAY 19!

Come‘ Color Our World’ this summer at Norwin Public Library with our Youth Summer Reading Program. We will be offering a wide variety of artistic themed events for the entire family. We welcome children of all ages up to 18 to join the fun.
Each participant must register online. The registration link will be posted on our website and our Facebook page. Registration will begin on Monday, May 19 at 10 a. m. After registering online, participants must come into the library to pick up a summer reading tracker. This booklet will have all the details for each week of summer reading. Look for more information to come home with all Norwin School District students the week of May 12. The information will also be available at the library.
You must be registered for the youth summer reading program to attend a youth summer reading event. Each youth summer reading event will also require a separate online registration. You can access youth summer reading event registration links either on our website or on the Norwin Public Library Facebook page.
HERE ARE A FEW EVENTS FOR ALL AGES YOU’ LL WANT TO MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR:
Summer Reading Kickoff
Saturday, June 7 from 11:30-1:30 p. m. We kick off this year’ s summer program with a variety of artistic activities such as face painting and balloon twisting! Bring a beach towel or blanket to sit outdoors and enjoy a good book!
Night With the Symphony
Tuesday, June 17 at 6 p. m.
A Westmoreland Symphony violinist will be performing while reading a story called Itzhak— a Boy Who Loved the Violin, an inspirational story about a world-famous violinist. Afterward, Radiant Strings, a professional string trio, will serenade us with Disney, Pixar, and other uplifting classical songs.
Speed Painter Cody Sabol
Saturday, July 5 at 11 a. m.
Cody Sabol, a nationally recognized speed painter and Norwin graduate, will astound our audience by creating a beautiful painting with just his fingers.
Union Project Pottery
Saturday, July 19 from 11 a. m. to 2 p. m.
Pittsburgh based Union Project’ s Wheel Mobile will be bringing an interactive pottery wheel demonstration to the library. All youth attending will receive a piece of pottery to take home with them.
Westmoreland Museum of American Art
Wednesday, July 30 from 11 a. m. to 2 p. m.
Meet us at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg
to view exhibits and complete an interactive scavenger hunt. You must provide your own transportation to and from the museum. The museum is located at 221 N. Main Street, Greensburg, PA 15601.
NPL Art Gala
Saturday, August 2 at 11 a. m. to 1 p. m.
Come dressed in your best to enjoy art created by participants in our youth summer reading program.
Please help us spread the word to teens who will be entering grades 7-12! Teens will also have a variety of exciting opportunities to get involved in events including photography, calligraphy, sewing, henna tattoos, exercise classes, and more!
