Norwin Homecoming Week 2026: A Celebration of Tradition and Community orwin

NORWIN SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS
Homecoming is a time when the Norwin community comes together to celebrate the traditions, accomplishments, and connections that make our District special. From current students and families to alumni and longtime community members, Homecoming Week 2026 brought together generations of Norwin Knights to celebrate their shared pride in our schools.
The festivities began on Thursday, October 8, with the Norwin Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet at Stratigos Banquet Center, where the Class of 2026 was honored. Established in 2009, the Norwin Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes athletes, teams, coaches, and contributors whose dedication, sacrifice, and character have brought distinction to Norwin and pride to the community. Inductees are celebrated in a permanent display outside the high school’ s main gymnasium. This year’ s inductees included Mike Liebdzinski, Noelle Lyons, JJ Matijevic, Max McDowell, Trinity Morgan, John Rasp, Rege Schuchert, Allen Warden, and Jay Zahorchak, along with the 1977 and 1978 Norwin Baseball Teams. Their accomplishments represent an important part of Norwin’ s athletic history and the lasting legacy of those who have helped shape our school community.
On Friday morning, the Norwin High School gymnasium was filled with BLUE and GOLD as students and faculty kicked off Homecoming weekend with the annual Pep Rally. The event featured performances by the Norwin High School Band and Show Choir, recognition of fall sports teams, and plenty of school spirit as students celebrated one of Norwin’ s favorite fall traditions.
That evening, the celebration continued with a Community Tailgate, sponsored by NHS Class Offices and held at the VFD Pavilion across from Warrior Stadium. Students and families gathered to enjoy time together before heading into the stadium for the Homecoming game,

creating a festive atmosphere throughout the evening.
Fans then filled the stands for the Friday night Homecoming game as the Knights faced Hempfield in a WHITE OUT. During halftime, the Homecoming King and Queen were crowned, adding another memorable moment to an evening filled with Norwin pride.
Homecoming season also provides an opportunity for Norwin alumni to reconnect and celebrate their shared experiences. Throughout the fall, alumni groups have gathered— and will continue to gather— for reunions, including several milestone celebrations: the Class of 2006’ s 20th reunion, the Class of 1976’ s 50th reunion, and the Class of 1966’ s 60th reunion. As part of their milestone celebration, members of the Class of 1966 returned to Norwin High School for a special tour, with many visiting the building for the first time since graduating. These gatherings are a wonderful reminder that the Norwin experience extends well beyond graduation, creating connections and memories that last for generations.
Throughout the week, the Norwin School District Community Foundation hosted its annual Days of Giving campaign from October 5 through October 11. The campaign provides an opportunity for the Norwin community to support Educator Innovation Grants, student scholarships, and other programs that directly benefit Norwin students.
Homecoming Week 2026 was a celebration of what makes Norwin unique: a strong sense of tradition, a community that continues to come together, and generations of Knights who remain connected to the place they call home. From honoring those who helped shape Norwin’ s athletic history to celebrating today’ s students and welcoming alumni back to their alma mater, Homecoming offered a meaningful reminder that being a Norwin Knight is a connection that lasts a lifetime.
