SAVE THE LIBRARY ! VOTE “ NO ” ON NOV . 8

If passed , a ballot question on this year ’ s midterm election ballot will result in a catastrophic 84 % cut to the Norwin Public Library ’ s local funding . The library cannot survive a reduction that extreme .
In 2000 , voters in North Huntingdon , Irwin , and North Irwin approved a 1 mil levy to improve , support and maintain the Norwin Public Library . This was in addition to the . 2 mil levy that was put into place in the 1970s .
The entire 1.2 mil levy averages less than $ 27 per household and provides $ 500,000 of the library ’ s budget . This is separate from the Norwin School District taxes ; they are just collected together .

Zoo visits , children ’ s plays , cartoonists , and musicians inspire children during our Summer Reading programs . We hold Trivia nights for children and adults , local business seminars , Christmas and other holiday crafting workshops with origami , sugar scrub making , and wreath contests .
We proctor exams for distance learners , and provide spaces for tutors and their students , job seekers and employment counselors , as well as Boy and Girl Scouts and other local service organizations .
