CASTLE Program Engages Elementary Students projects like Shark Tank. They have become publishers and creators of web-based projects and presentations. Most importantly, students are learning the importance of technology in our society, and how to use it in a safe and productive manner. MUSIC The Hillcrest Production Studio was unveiled with green screen, sound, and recording equipment for use with many school-wide projects. Additional improvements include the new Quaver Music Program, use of iPads to complete interactive lessons, and the Mimio Teach device to interact with images on the screen and collaborate with others. ART Lessons have become more interactive with the use of new technology. Rooms were redesigned in a more efficient manner and interactive “Mimio Walls” were created for lesson presentations. 3-D printers have allowed students to create art using beginning Computer-Aided Design programs. Teachers and students worked collaboratively on many project-based learning activities school-wide. Glowforge laser printers & engravers will be used in the Hillcrest art classes next year, which will further expand a student’s ability to create. PHYSICAL EDUCATION Physical Education students have been able to track their heart rates while exercising with the use of activity monitors. Students have also become innovators by creating their own physical fitness challenges and games, complete with instructions. Students routinely exercised with the use of programs like “Just Dance,” or by participating in Olympic challenges this past school year. NORWIN ❘ FALL 2018 37
