The Norwin Public Library Is Here to Help!

The Norwin Public Library is here to help! We are proud to support students and educators in their academic and vocational research. Our expert staff can guide you to the resources that will enhance your child’ s education.
Here are what some Norwin educators have to say about our library:
“ A library is the center of knowledge in a community, and, without question, the Norwin Public Library is an integral part of the greater Norwin community. The Norwin School District and its students, parents, and staff value this tremendous asset and educational partnership.” William H. Kerr, Ed. D., Superintendent of Schools
“ The Norwin Public Library offers a valuable service to our community through the wide variety of high interest books, resources, and programs they make available. The Norwin School District maintains a partnership with NPL and appreciates their efforts, especially in the summer months, in keeping children engaged in reading and learning.” Natalie A. McCracken, Ed. D. Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education
“ The think I like most about the library is how accessible it is to both students and teachers. We can borrow things to use and keep the knowledge that we need. We are very blessed as a community to have such a wonderful resource at our disposal.” Steve Smith, 4th Grade, Hahntown Elementary
“ The library is a vital community resource. The children’ s programs are intentional, organized and developmentally appropriate. My own children enjoy the block parties, seasonal activities, music classes, story time, etc. I have used the library for summer book clubs, and have encouraged students to sign up for their own library card. I have checked out numerous biographies and autobiographies for class projects and have utilized the vast selection available for other school related assignments. We are blessed to have this facility in our town!” Natalie Janov, 6th Grade, Hillcrest Intermediate School
The Library is helpful in so many ways! Of course, Miss Barb is always so accommodating. She is eager to step into the classroom and make books come to life. The students love seeing someone other than their teacher reading and interacting with them. Secondly, teachers are always looking for books! All I have to do is send a quick email and books are ready for me within a day. My literacy lessons wouldn’ t be what they are if it weren’ t for the Norwin library! Sara Colosimo, Kindergarten, Stewartsville
“ The NPL is a great meeting place! I reserve the library’ s community room to host science fair information sessions for the whole district at once. It is a nice large area that we can arrange to our own needs. Plus, once kids decide on a topic they like, the well-stocked children’ s library is only a few steps away! The library is a great partner in our program and we couldn’ t do what we do without them.” Matthew Anticole, NHS-Science
“ Our Norwin Public Library is a gift to the area. The staff is kind and attentive to all! Whether you’ re looking to enjoy a play performed by Stage Right, create a DIY project, show your trivia knowledge, or simply browse through the vast selection of books on the shelves, our library has it covered. We are very lucky to have such a welcoming and comfortable place to enjoy as a community.” Dana Helphenstine, 4th Grade ELA Hahntown Elementary
“ The Norwin Public Library is a wonderful place for teachers, students, and families. The friendly and welcoming staff always greets you as you walk through the doors. I frequent the library as much as 3-4 times a week during the school year gathering read alouds for my 2nd grade students. Ms. Barb visits my 2nd grade classroom at Hahntown Elementary several times during the school year to share her exciting and silly stories with my students. Through the years, Ms. Barb not only has been a very reliable resource for my classroom, but she has also become a wonderful friend. The Norwin Public Library is an amazing resource for the entire Norwin community!”
Chelse Burzio, 2nd Grade Hahntown Elementary
Stressed over science? Humbled by homework? Don’ t forget, the library can help! We have a large selection of Norwin’ s textbooks, from elementary up through middle school, able to be utilized within the building. So if your student forgets a book, we may be able to allay some stress!
September is National Library Card Sign Up Month and the library has the opportunity to ask all the first graders to become a part of OUR library by getting their very own library card! Flyers will be sent home with each first grade student at Norwin. If the student needs a card, it’ s as easy as asking an adult to fill in the information and return it to their first grade teacher. In about a week, a library card and a special coupon will be delivered back to the classroom.( And when the students return that coupon to the library, as a special THANK YOU gift from the Friends of the Library, each child receives a book they get to keep!) Of course, we love welcoming all new members. If YOU need a library card, please bring proper identification and stop by our circulation desk.
