Engineering Hour! Tuesdays, Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 4 to 5 p.m. School aged children (ages 5+) can join us for an hour of engineering fun. We will have Legos, wooden blocks, magnet tiles and more each week for your building adventures! No registration required. Preschool Storytime! Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Jan. 8, 15 and 22 Feb. 5, 12 and 19 March 11, 18 and 25 Children ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers can come on down to the Library for a 30 minute storytime on Wednesdays at 10:00am. Children can enjoy stories, songs, rhymes and rhythms. Children must be at least 3 years of age to attend. No registration required. Music and Movement Thursdays at 10 a.m. Jan. 9, 16, 23, 30, Feb. 6, and 13 Come have fun with music, stories and simple instruments as we get our groove on. Children 3 and up will enjoy this creative storytime under the tree in the Children’s Picture Book Area. No registration required. We will explore stories, songs and activities that don’t necessarily go together and are a bit crazy. Meet our silly staff on the third Sunday of the month. Registration is required. Colbert | Forester from the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will be here to teach us about invasive species in our state forests. Students will then get the chance to research the invasive species of their choice and make an informational door hanger. Registration is required. Home-School Meetup- Digital Citizenship-Responsible use of social media for teens and tweens Friday, March 6 from 10 to 11 a.m. Philip Little from the Attorney General’s office will be here to present a frank discussion regarding Digital Citizenship. Digital Citizenship is a program that explains what is expected of you while online and appropriate use of social media. We explore the consequences of improper use of the internet, dangers online, cyber-bullying and your “digital footprint.” We all need to be good digital citizens as part of our cyber community. Parents are welcome, but not required, to attend with their teen and/or tween. Please register each person separately and under their own name. Northland Chess Tournament Saturday, March 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Chess players will compete for trophies in two divisions: Kindergarten through 4th grade, and 5th grade through 8th grade. First place winners in each division will move on to represent Northland Library in the county-wide finals. Registration begins February 1.
