The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale has announced its 2019-2020 concert schedule, which celebrates 35 years of singing. “The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale has some big plans in store for our 35th anniversary season, which began with our eighth annual Pittsburgh Sings: The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale Festival of Choirs at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland,” says Music Director Susan Medley. “Pittsburgh Sings brings together three high school choirs from the greater Pittsburgh region in a celebration of choral music, and this year the event is offered free of charge to everyone. In December we were joined by the Jazz Conspiracy Swingtet for A Big Band Christmas, which will offer a swinging mix of holiday favorites and sing-alongs. We were also pleased to present our third annual Messiah Sing, a free event that invites audience members to join the PCC in singing Handel’s beloved masterpiece. A perennial audience favorite, Orff ’s Carmina Burana takes center stage for our spring concerts, including a special performance at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland. “Our audience members and singers will choose the music in our May concerts, 35 Years of Favorites. Throughout the year people are invited to submit their favorites from past seasons, and those requests will form the program for our final concerts of the season. We are so excited to celebrate our 35th anniversary, and we look forward to sharing this special season with our audiences.” The concert schedule is as follows: ● Carmina Burana, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at Ingomar United Methodist Church and 4 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland. The epic masterpiece by Carl Orff will be performed by the PCC with Orff ’s authorized arrangement for two pianos and percussion. ● In April, the PCC celebrates 35 years with a Gala Celebration! From a silent auction to a dessert bar, this will be an event not to be missed. Further information for this Apr. 17 event will be posted on the website soon. ● 35 Years of Favorites, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, and 4 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at Ingomar United Methodist Church. The concert will feature favorite songs suggested by singers and audience members from the past 34 seasons. Individual concert tickets are available for purchase in advance or at the door. Prices are: Adults – $20 ($23 at the door); students – $8; and no admission cost for children 11 and under. Festival of Choirs and Messiah Sing admission is free.
