Selling your home during the winter months can be just as
successful as the springtime; here are a few tips to help set
your home up for success...
Number of showings – You may have fewer showings during these
months. Don’t worry though, because these buyers are out looking
for a reason and are more apt to be very serious about buying a
home!
Daylight – As we all are aware, the daylight turns to darkness by the
dinner hour this time of year; you can help to showcase the interior
by leaving rooms well-lit. This allows visitors to tour your home
with ease, versus searching for light switches. Set the thermostat to
a comfortable temperature to give them a cozy experience while
visiting your home – you want them to remember the warm feeling
your home gave them and not the cold chill! Playing soft music in the
background is also a nice tou ch!
Weekends – Be prepared to keep your home show-ready for the
weekends, as these are the days that typically fit better into the
buyers’ schedule for prime daylight viewings.
Holiday Decorations – Decorations can make your home feel
warm and inviting; just be careful not to go overboard! Avoid using
oversized adornments or have too many items that will clutter
your space. You do not want your visitors to be distracted by your
decorations or focused on the seemingly cramped spaces. Less is
definitely more. Why not leave out a plate of holiday cookies with a
note inviting your visitors to take one?
Quality Photos – This time of year the trees are often bare of their
leaves and the flower beds are empty. You can add a great spring or
summer photo at the end of your online presence to showcase how
pretty your home looks in the different seasons, or leave a few photos
of your home with spring flowers in bloom on your counter or table
top.
Safety – Have exterior lights in working order, and sidewalks, steps
and driveways clear of leaves, snow and ice so that your visitors can
safely navigate around your home.
