NA Celebrates Homecoming Weekend
The annual North Allegheny School District Homecoming
Parade and Game was held on the North Allegheny Senior High
School( NASH) campus on Friday, Sept. 30.
The celebration began at 4p. m. with pre-parade activities that
included a football toss, floating ball race, skeet-ball, plink, roller
bowler and prize wheel games, as well as food tucks and multiple
booths run by various NA student groups.
At 5:45 p. m., the parade began. The parade’ s theme was
“ Behind the Mask” and featured a dozen floats. The parade looped
around NASH campus twice, and each float and homecoming
court candidate were announced when passing the front of the
school.
At 7 p. m., an Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony began and at
7:30 p. m., the Homecoming Football Game kicked-off against the
Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils. The Tigers beat the Devils 22 to 15.
The halftime show was presented by the NA Marching Band
and this year’ s homecoming King, Christopher Lofink, and Queen,
Madison Pavlick, were crowned.

On Saturday, October 1, there were two Homecoming Dances. The dance at NASH for juniors and seniors was held from 8 to11 p. m. A separate dance will be held on Saturday at the North Allegheny Intermediate High School for freshmen and sophomores from 7:30 to10:30 p. m.
The Homecoming events were sponsored, organized and managed by NASH Student Council and the NA Band / Band Patrons in collaboration with the school’ s principals. Fran Hawbaker and Kevin Zebley are the NASH Student Council Advisors.
NA Students Selected for AIU Apprenticeship Program
Twenty-two high school students from the North Allegheny School District have been selected to participate in the 2016-2017 AIU Apprenticeship Program, which will provide them with handson experiences in a variety of career fields.
The Apprenticeship Program consists of a half-day or daylong learning experience each month over a six or seven month period during the school year. Students meet and work with professionals who share their experience, expertise, enthusiasm and zeal for their professions. In addition to providing behindthe-scenes insight into prospective careers, the program helps students make connections with organizations and people who can help them as they pursue career options.
