“Good People”
sac·ri·fice
• an act of giving up something valued
for the sake of something else regarded
as more important or worthy.
F
or many years our United
States veterans have selflessly
volunteered to protect the
rights and freedoms that
we, the people, enjoy on a daily
basis. Whether on the battlefield
or here at home, they have made
many sacrifices for the betterment
of our country. Veterans have missed
the births of their children and
monumental childhood moments
that only happen once in a lifetime.
They’ve struggled to transition
from a life of service to civilian life,
oftentimes feeling out of place
in their own home. Anxiety, fear
and worry often consume them,
feeling isolated and alone even
when surrounded by loved ones. The physical and emotional pain that
they endure trying to complete a task that was once so simple. A car
backfiring or a refrigerator light in the middle of the night can instantly
transport the m back to an all-too-familiar world where their only
objective is survival. Sadly, far too many have already paid the ultimate
sacrifice for our country. Grane Hospice Care wants to sincerely thank all
of our veterans for their commitment and service.
Grane is committed to honoring our veterans and their families by
providing the best end-of-life care and attention. We have recently
become a We Honor Veterans partner in the Pittsburgh area. This
means we can integrate best practices for providing end-of-life care for
veterans into our organization. By recognizing the unique needs of our
nation’s veterans who are facing a life-limiting illness, Grane Hospice
Care is better prepared to accompany and guide them and their families
toward a more peaceful ending. And in cases where there might be
some specific needs related to the veteran’s military service, combat
experience or other traumatic events, Grane Hospice Care will provide
tools to help support those we are caring for.
“Bravery is being the only one who knows
you’re afraid.”
– Colonel David Hackworth
