EARTH DAY IN THE
RESERVE OF BRADFORD
WOODS
Recycling old CDs into beautiful wind
chimes, learning how to make natural
deer repellent and finding out more about
wild bird recovery were just some of the
hands‑on activities at the annual Earth
Day in the Reserve sponsored by the
Bradford Woods Conservancy, a fund of the
Allegheny Land Trust. This year’s program
focused on recycling, wild bird recovery,
crafts for children and memorial tree
plantings.
The Bradford Woods Conservancy’s
Advisory Board is composed of President
Ward Allebach, Vice President Barbara
Tischler, Treasurer Joe Bayer, Secretaries
Vicki Wiegand (coordinator for Earth Day)
and June McCartney and Fundraising Chair
Ray Morris.
“The purpose of the conservancy is
to get people in the community and its
surrounding areas to appreciate nature,”
says Allebach. “I think that is what Earth
Day is about—to celebrate this wonderful
community reserve.”
Bradford Woods Conservancy
meets in the Borough Hall located at
4908 Wexford Run Road on the fourth
Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. Those
interested in conservation and nature
are most welcome to find out more by
contacting Ward Allebach at 412.606.9075.
