LEAP YEAR BABY !
New parents Ashley and Sean Winser welcomed a healthy baby girl at 8:48 a . m . on Feb . 29 , 2024 at Allegheny Health Network ’ s Wexford Hospital . She came in at 8 lbs . 1oz and just a little over 21 inches long and is one of AHN ’ s first babies born this Leap Year !
The chances of being born on Feb . 29 are one in 1,461 and it ’ s a birthday shared by roughly 360,000 people across the country - by comparison , about 1.6 million can say they were born on March 1 . Those who are born on a Leap Year are lovingly referred to as “ leaplings .”
The next leap year will be in 2028 . Please join us in wishing baby girl a very special , and happy birthday !
NORTH PITTSBURGH QUILTERS GUILD SPRING QUILT SHOW
The North Pittsburgh Quilters Guild is hosting a spring quilt show , “ Let ’ s Go Crazy ,” April 19-21 at the Ross
Township Community Center , located at 1000 Ross Municipal Drive ( 15237 ). Hours are 10 a . m . to 5 p . m . on Friday and Saturday , and noon until 4 p . m . on Sunday . Admission is $ 10 and there is free parking .
Quilts of all types and sizes will be on display with an emphasis on items made using the Crazy Quilting technique . This technique lends itself to all kinds of artistic and interesting projects .
Additionally there will be a full-size bed quilt raffle , specialty vendors , raffle baskets and a Treasure Chest Room with fabric and other quilting “ finds .” Daily Walk and Talk sessions with a certified quilt show judge will give insight into what gave the winning quilts their edge .

NEW RENAISSANCE THEATRE SHOWS
The New Renaissance Theatre announced the “ unscripted ” Shakespearean plays it will be presenting this summer , “ Much Adoe About Nothing ” and “ Twelfe Night , or What You Will .” This group performs unrehearsed Shakespeare , oftentimes with hilarious results , at open-air spaces all around the Pittsburgh area .

NACSSL REGISTRATION IS OPEN !
Senior softball registration for the Northern Allegheny County Senior Softball League ( NACSSL ) is open . This is a competitive slow pitch senior softball league with divisions of ages 50 + and 62 +. Tryout evaluations are held March through April . Games are played May through August , primarily at the Senior Ballfield Complex at the North Park Lodge .
