NA Unified Bocce
North Allegheny Athletics welcomed the addition of Unified Bocce this winter . Sponsored by the Special Olympics , unified sports join people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team . Fifteen students play on two teams . The District hosted its first home match in school history on Jan . 18 , and Jeff Jimerson , the Penguins National Anthem singer , sang the National Anthem before the match .
Jump for the Hills
Throughout February and March , all seven of NASD ’ s elementary schools will participate in “ Jump for the Hills !” a jump rope fundraiser benefiting North Hills Community Outreach ( NHCO ) that is organized by the Elementary Physical Education Department . Last year , students raised $ 63,053.31 ! for NHCO ’ s programs and services . National Merit Scholarship Program Finalists
Twenty-two North Allegheny seniors were recognized as Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program . Approximately 15,000 students across the country were named Finalists and have the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,250 National Merit Scholarships that will be offered this spring .
