Tour the elegant Tudor mansion and stable complex. Preserved within Hartwood Acres Park is one of the largest and most spectacular country estates in the region. Hartwood consists of a stately Tudor Mansion( erected in 1929) cottage, stable complex and gate lodge( erected in 1927). Its 16th century architectural design affords both young and old the opportunity to glimpse into a part of Pittsburgh’ s past. Reservations are required for tours. Croatian artist Maxo Vanka painted a one-of-a-kind masterpiece on the interior walls of St. Nicholas Croatian Catholic Church. A 60-minute docentguided tour provides a fascinating glimpse into Vanka’ s art and the experiences that shaped his ideas. It also includes his early life, his success in Europe and his life in America. Please note: St. Nicholas is not open to the public on a daily basis.
