INGOMAR GARDEN CLUB’S SPRING PLANT SALE AND MONTHLY MEETINGS Ingomar Garden Club’s Spring Plant Sale will take place on Saturday, May 12. Attend the annual fundraiser for hanging baskets, perennials, annuals, vegetables and garden crafts. The event will be located at the corner of Ingomar Road and 9600 Old Perry Highway (Route 19), 15237 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Ingomar Garden Club meets the first Wednesday of the month, March through November, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, located at 311 Cumberland Road, 15237. THE NORTH ALLEGHENY WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION The North Allegheny Women’s Association (NAWA) is an organization for women living within the North Allegheny School District that focuses on empowering and connecting women through social and service activities. It is dedicated to building meaningful friendships and support networks for women, while serving women in need. NAWA has hosted charitable donation collections, organized volunteer events with several nonprofits in the North Allegheny area, and helped women in the community experiencing personal hardship. Members also enjoy social NORTH HILLS GENEALOGISTS GROUP HOSTS FAMILY HISTORY CONFERENCE & WORKSHOPS North Hills Genealogists is hosting its 2018 Family History Conference & Workshops March 23-24 in Wexford. John Philip Colletta, PhD, national speaker on topics of family history, and Aaron McWilliams, reference archivist at the Pennsylvania State Archives, will speak on topics important to both beginner and advanced genealogists. Colletta will speak on finding ancestors in various records such as federal and naturalization records; McWilliams will talk about the resources housed in the state archives, such as state land and military records. The event will be held at The Columbian Room, located at 250 Swinderman Road in Wexford, just past the junction of routes 910 and 19. There are two sessions of two workshops each on Friday, March 23. Those interested may sign up for one or both: 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. — Facts about Ancestors Found in Federal Records and Genealogical Resources at the Pennsylvania Archives 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.— State Land Records of Pennsylvania and Military Records at the Pennsylvania State Archives On Saturday, the all-day event offers two morning workshops starting at 9 a.m., breaking for lunch (included) and door prizes, followed by two additional workshops. The last one should end at 4 p.m. The workshops include: • Passenger Arrival Records, Colonial Times to Mid to 20th Century • Naturalization Records, Colonial Times to Mid to 20th Century • Only a Few Bones: Case Studies in Assembling Sources to Reconstruct Real-Life Events • Discovering Your Ancestors’ World Through Maps and Gazetteers WEXFORD ACTING STUDIO SPRING SHOWCASE Wexford Acting Studio students are excited to present their Spring Showcase! It is the Broadway-style culmination of all the skills they have been learning and honing in class for their work on the stage. Family, friends and the community are all invited to attend this free performance at The Kean Theatre at 5 p.m. on May 19. For the past 12 years, Wexford Acting Studio has brought major talent and entertainment to audiences. The showcase will include a variety of monologues and scenes from plays, solos, duets and song-and-dance ensemble production numbers from many popular musicals. The students range in age from 6 to 18 and are training to be the best triple-threat performers they can be. Join in an entertaining evening at the theater. No tickets are required.
