Rich Fitzgerald recently joined
with community leaders and
representatives of Vincentian
Collaborative System for a ceremonial
ribbon-cutting at Terrace Place at
Vincentian, a 91‑unit, 55+ community
deploying groundbreaking smart
technology powered by Amazon Alexa
and K4Community.
Located on Babcock Boulevard in
McCandless, Terrace Place features
independent living apartment homes
for individuals 55 years and older in an
adaptable, innovative, parklike setting
that embraces a green and open concept,
explained Vincentian President & CEO
Nick Vizzoca.
“Terrace Place is a ‘smart’ choice
for many reasons, including the
integration of smart technology that
brings convenience and connectedness
to residents’ fingertips,” says Vizzoca.
“Complete home control and automation,
social networking and wellness programs
are just the beginning of this new and
exciting technology.”
A unique multigenerational living
program held in collaboration with
LaRoche University will expand social
and educational opportunities by inviting
several undergraduate students each term
to become “students in residence” at

Terrace Place. The housing program is the
first of its kind in western Pennsylvania.
Apartment amenities include an open
floor plan, stainless steel appliances,
granite countertops, full-size washer/
dryer and private balcony or patio for
each unit. Community amenities include
free local transportation, a grab-n-go
bistro, and outdoor leisure/dining spaces.
Joining the ribbon-cutting festivities
were Vincentian Board members,
members of the Sisters of Holy Spirit and
Sisters of Charity of Nazareth as well as
current residents and members of the
McCandless community.

the vibrant shopping and entertainment

TERM PATIENTS AT
UPMC CHILDREN’S
HOSPITAL OF
PITTSBURGH
To distract long-term patients at
UPMC Children’s Hospital from their
treatment and stay at the hospital,
e-books will be purchased for these
patients as part of an Eagle Scout project.
Nathan Cottrell will be raising funds by
hosting a spaghetti dinner with the goal of
raising $3,000 toward this venture. All are
welcome for an evening of great food to
support a wonderful cause!
