RECORD-BREAKING NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS FOR THE 34TH YMCA OF GREATER PITTSBURGH TURKEY TROT
A record-breaking 7,600 + participants began their Thanksgiving celebration at the 34th annual YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh Turkey Trot , presented by UPMC Health Plan .
Runners and walkers from 42 states , Canada , and the U . K . gathered on Pittsburgh ’ s North Shore to support YMCA food pantry programs and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank .
The event featured multiple races , festive costumes and a food drive hosted by Peoples Gas . Proceeds and donations helped brighten the holidays for those in need , showcasing Pittsburgh ’ s spirit of generosity and togetherness .
AHN MONROEVILLE TOPS NEWSWEEK ’ S LIST OF BEST AMBULATORY SURGERY CENTERS IN PA
Allegheny Health Network ’ s ( AHN ) Monroeville Surgery Center has been ranked # 1 in Pennsylvania on Newsweek ’ s “ America ’ s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers ” list for 2025 .
Four other AHN facilities also made the state ’ s Top 25 : Westmoreland Outpatient Center (# 4 ), Bethel Park Surgery Center (# 12 ), Wexford Health + Wellness Pavilion Surgery Center (# 15 ) and North Shore Endoscopy Center (# 23 ).
The rankings , developed in partnership with Statista , recognize the top 5 % of U . S . ambulatory surgery centers based on quality of care , patient experience , and peer recommendations .
AHN ’ s Monroeville Surgery Center , known for its advanced outpatient surgical services , was the first in Western Pennsylvania to offer joint replacement procedures in an ambulatory setting .
“ This honor reflects the skill , dedication , and teamwork of our surgeons , nurses and staff ,” said Sricharan Chalikonda , MD , chair of the AHN Surgery Institute .

AUBERLE ’ S 20TH ANNUAL ‘ VOICES CARRY ’ EVENT
On Sept . 24 , Pittsburgh musicians gathered to celebrate 20 years of supporting Auberle at the annual Voices Carry event .
Held at the Westin Pittsburgh Convention Center , the evening featured performances from many of the city ’ s most popular artists , including Scott Blasey , Billy Price , Joe Grushecky and others . The musicians , some of whom have participated since the event ’ s inception , performed hits from Motown and the ‘ 60s to mark the special anniversary .
In addition to live music , attendees enjoyed a basket raffle , silent auction and a live auction featuring a private performance by Scott Blasey .
Proceeds from the event support Auberle ’ s extensive programs , which help change the lives of more than 5,000 individuals , families and communities each year through services like workforce development , housing and behavioral health support .
KEYNOTES MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION
Keynotes is accepting applications for its 2025 music scholarship competition , which will be held May 10 at the Fine Arts Theatre of Mt . Lebanon High School in the South Hills . Cash awards totaling more than $ 16,000 will be available .
Requirements are :
• Instrumentalists must be under 26 years of age by June 1 , 2025 , and vocalists must be under the age of 30 .
• The student must be a full-time music major at a college , university or music school or a graduating high school senior accepted for admission as a full-time music major .
• Contestants must be current legal residents of Pennsylvania for one year , or if out of state , attending a school in Pennsylvania and can provide proof of a PA address ( e . g ., campus address , university mailings , apartment or utility bills ).
