The Festival of Trees is a holiday display of themed trees decorated by area students , community groups , public services , and more . It includes concessions , hayrides , and tours of the nearby McKeesport Regional History & Heritage Center and the Garden Club of McKeesport . Admission is $ 2 . Children 12 and younger may enter with a donated non-perishable food item that supports the Intersection pantry .

The Salute to Santa Parade is a longtime tradition in the City of McKeesport . Marching bands , public safety units , community groups , and student organizations from across the Mon Valley help kick off the holiday season with a Fifth Avenue procession ( from Market to Coursin streets ). Spectators line the road to watch the parade of floats , performances and more . Festivities end with a children ’ s party at the Palisades , 100 Fifth Avenue .
