In only a few short months, our students and staff members have accumulated numerous academic, artistic, and athletic achievements. Inside this issue of IN Murrysville, you will find exciting news about the four students at Franklin Regional Senior High School who were named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists and meet five new members of the Franklin Regional staff. Through the FR Panther Foundation, Innovation Grants provide an array of new programming in our schools to include a Makerspace in the FRMS library, a program at FRSH that examines DNA structure and traits, and a Padcaster that will allow Sloan students to do a video broadcast of the morning announcements. This issue of In Murrysville will introduce readers to the three Innovation Grant recipients. As our Elementary Campus begins to take shape, the District is on track to improve educational spaces and opportunities for students. These projects are underway and progressing as planned with the renovation of Sloan Elementary School for students in grades K-2 and the construction of a new building to house grades 3-5. In this issue, we will explore the Student Innovation Centers planned for both the new Intermediate and renovated Primary schools. Finally, we also feature two new FR initiatives, the 1:1 Chromebook program at FRSH that pairs 1,300 computers with students and the debut of the District’s new website (www.frsdk12.org). With the holiday season fast approaching, I hope that all of our families take time to be with one another and to enjoy all of the special moments that life has to offer us. I hope you enjoy this issue of IN Murrysville. Yours in Education, Dr. Gennaro R. Piraino, Jr. Superintendent of Schools 2019 Pennsylvania Superintendent of the Year
