When I reflect on the many impressive accomplishments that Franklin Regional
School District has celebrated this past school year, I am extremely proud of our
students, staff, and community. Our exceptional students and staff have garnered so
many awards and recognitions this year that we could never adequately showcase all
of them in this magazine.
Academically, we had eight National Merit Finalists! Our academic teams won many
local and regional competitions. We also demonstrated tremendous growth in the
number of students earning qualifying scores on Advanced Placement Exams.
Artistically, we celebrated the FR Panther Marching Band’s selection for the 2019
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade®, where they will represent the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania. On the stage, our students gave an amazing performance in
“Thoroughly Modern Millie.”
Athletically, we had many award-winning teams and athletes. The WPIAL
Championship won by our Boy’s Soccer Team, PIAA Championships, and all-state
recognition earned by a number of individual athletes, all highlight our success on
the field and in the gymnasium and they make us proud.
As citizens, so many of our students do amazing work as volunteers. They give
of their time to help others in our schools and communities and raise money for
important causes. Through their philanthropic efforts and volunteer hours, our
students truly make a difference in our community and positively impact the lives of
many people.
Finally, we certainly cannot forget our valued professional staff members who
have continually worked to set the bar higher for learning at FR. Our educators
work tirelessly to make sure that our students receive a well-rounded, world-class
educational experience.
As we wish our seniors luck in their future endeavors and prepare to embark on a
new school year, I would like to say thank you to our students, families, staff, School
Board, and community for your continued support. Together, we are preparing
our students for a successful future. Given their accomplishments this year, I am
confident in their ability to serve and lead this community for generations to come.
Yours in Education,
Dr. Gennaro R. Piraino, Jr.
