The Rails to Trails walk and bikeway was opened for 5 miles from the middle of Murrysville to Trafford. A parking area (Roberts’s property) was purchased and paved to provide easy access from Route 22, complete with bathrooms and bike tool rack. Irrigation system was installed at MCP (Murrysville’s central park) to ensure high quality field maintenance. Crowfoot Road bridge deck was replaced expediently to ensure school bus safety. 154 miles of Municipal roads were maintained and plowed to ensure our residents have safe access to all Municipal services. Solar paneling was installed at MCP’s historic Sears House, providing opportunities for FRHS study efforts and local solar energy knowledge. Electric car charging stations were installed within the Blue Spruce Shopping Center and many parking lots at Municipal facilities were given LED lights. Not only do these provide for lower costs, but also emphasize Murrysville’s commitment to energy savings. Again, and since 2006, there was no property tax increase proposed or enacted by Murrysville on its residents. Municipal pensions were essentially fully funded (police 103%, all others 98.6%), showing the commitment to pay as you go and not have future generations penalized. Our Community Center and separate Senior Center (while in one facility) were both upgraded to enable comfortable citizen usage and rental. Commercial development was increased with 40 occupancy permits issued in the last three years. New shopping centers like: Blue Spruce Shoppes, Maple Commons, and Rosa Court Shops, have changed Murrysville to become “the place to go” to eat and shop! More people come to Murrysville than ever before! Our crime rate is the lowest of all the surrounding areas due to our excellent and well- trained police force. Our emergency management (EMT, Police, Fire, Medic One and Public Works departments) are recognized as one of Pennsylvania’s best. The Municipality works hard to provide excellent equipment, and the training of each EMT department is top notch! Murrysville has been the Park and Trail Capital of Southwestern Pennsylvania. We have seven large Municipal parks and six neighborhood parks with over 1,000 acres. In addition, conservation lands with a lot of trails add another 500 acres. Recreation programs offer so many programs for every age group that it is impossible not to find something in which to participate. Go to our website: www.murrysville.com please! We have the best library system, staff and facility in the area. We have a Miracle Field that insures the ability of “all” our residents and special people to be included in our programs. Most importantly, we are only such a Great Municipality because YOU, our citizens, volunteer on our programs, our commissions, our churches, our service clubs, and our charitable organizations! Thank you for making Murrysville a Great Place to Work, Play, Learn and Shop Please read the following reports to see the many great things done for you in 2017! It has been an honor to serve you as Mayor in 2017 and to ensure great services and support for you and your families, without increasing your Municipal tax cost, which is also one of the lowest in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
