The Difference is Quality
W
hen choosing a landscaper, people will often default to
price, mistakenly thinking that all landscapers are the same.
However, with Peak Landscape Management, your dollar will
go farther and enhance the value of your home more, because of the
quality behind the name.
Founded by Tim Walker over a decade ago, Peak Landscape
Management has been building the finest outdoor spaces in
Pittsburgh. From outdoor kitchens and patios, to retaining walls,
fireplaces and even smokeless fire pits, Peak can do it all for you –
using the highest quality materials on the market.
“People look at the stone that landscapers use and they think it’s all
the same block,” Walker says. “But cheaper products do give cheaper-
looking results. If you see a retaining wall with white stains all over it,
that’s the result of a poor-quality block. Water seeps through it more
readily and causes those stains. We use Unilock blocks, which are
denser blocks that prevent water from leaching through.” With a cost
that’s comparable to
other products, Walker
adds that he mainly
uses Unilock products
because it’s his name
that’s out there.
“If people see a good
job, they’ll ask the
homeowner who did
it. If they see a bad job,
they don’t have to ask—the homeowner will tell them right away,” he
explains. “Word of mouth is based on quality work and we strive for
that on each and every job.”
And while Walker’s been creating outdoor vistas for homeowners
for years, changes in style and amenities keep giving more and more
people new ways to enjoy their yards.
For example, Peak Landscape offers homeowners the option of
having a smokeless, wood-burning fire pit, which is in huge demand in
communities with close neighbors.

“It has a metal
insert and captures
the smoke from a
wood fire so your
neighbors don’t get
smoked out every
time you’re trying to
make S’mores,” Walker
says. “People are also
putting roofs over
their existing patios
and outdoor kitchens to expand the space of their homes. If you add
a heater to that, you have an outdoor living space that you can enjoy
well over three seasons of the year. So, it’s no longer a luxury to invest
in your yard; it’s more like an addition that gives you more usable
room and versatile use for family and friends.”
Peak also excels in designing and creating water features such as
ponds, fountains and waterfalls. What’s more, if you simply have no
idea what would work best in your yard, Walker notes that a simple
consultation can help solve that problem as well.
“I’ve drawn up designs for people who know exactly what they
want, and people who don’t,” he says. “Being in this business for as
long as I have, you know what will work in a yard and what won’t.”
