CONCERT TO FIGHT

The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra
(WSO) joined Orchestras Feeding America to
benefit the Westmoreland County Food Bank.
Patrons attending the Gershwin Valentine
concert in February were encouraged to
bring non-perishable food donations to
the event at the Palace Theatre.

The statistics reflect the teamwork
between the citizens of Murrysville and law
enforcement to provide a safe environment
for children and families.
“Everyone at the Westmoreland
Symphony Orchestra is excited to be a part
of this effort which fights hunger in our local
area,” Managing Director Morrie Brand says.
“Music brings the community together and it
was a great opportunity to show our support
for this important cause.”
According to Westmoreland County Food
Bank, the organization serves approximately
15,000 low-income Westmoreland County
residents, including 4,000 children and over
2,000 seniors each month. More information

safest cities in Pennsylvania compiled from
the most recent FBI Crime Report. This
independent research focused on cities and
towns with a population of 10,000 or greater
as of 2011.
Murrysville ranked #5 on the list,
reporting no murders in 2011. According to
the study, the chance of becoming a victim in
Murrysville is one in 3,340, far lower than
the state average of one in 282.
