HEROES AT HOME: MURRYSVILLE MEDIC ONE RESCUES NEARLY 100 RESIDENTS FROM JUNE FLOOD
The severe thunderstorm that hit Murrysville on June 6 resulted in flash flooding of roadways and homes, leaving vehicles stranded in its wake.
Murrysville Medic One’ s Water Rescue Team went into action, the first time in their own hometown, to rescue two elderly women from their sunken car on Pleasant Valley Road.
Especially hit hard by the flooding was the section of roadway by Ginny’ s Pizza Restaurant and Helltown Brewery.
A total of 95 residents— including those living in the Penn Vista Apartments on Old William Penn Highway as well as students who were stranded trying to get to their graduation ceremony at Franklin Regional High School— were rescued by the water rescue team and other local emergency responders.
Murrysville Medic One’ s Dive and Swiftwater Rescue Team respond to emergency water incidents, including water rescues and searching for missing people. They also are called upon to partner with other local, county and state agencies during large-scale events.
