As an educator, l enjoy watching the enthusiasm of our students as they enter our schools. Students and staff return from their summer breaks refreshed and eager to embrace another enriching and rewarding school year. FR is a district that successfully balances the areas of academics, the arts, athletics, and citizenship. Each day, our students engage in hands-on and minds-on learning experiences through our innovative and continuously evolving educational programming. This year marks the beginning of a new era for FR with the commencement of the Elementary Campus construction project. Renovation work is underway at the existing Sloan Elementary School, which will evolve into a K-2 Primary Building. We also have broken ground for a brand new Intermediate School that will house students in grades 3-5. This issue of IN Murrysville will focus on the project and the many educational benefits that will impact Franklin Regional students for many generations. In addition to detailing how these facilities will provide our teachers and students the tools necessary to keep FR on the cutting edge of education, we also offer a sneak peek inside the schools through the architectural renderings pictured throughout this edition. I am honored to serve a community that emphasizes and values academic, athletic, artistic, and citizenship experiences for its students. As an education team, we remain committed to providing every student with a world-class, well-rounded educational experience that ignites a passion for a lifetime of learning and success. Yours in Education, Dr. Gennaro R. Piraino, Jr. Superintendent of Schools 2019 Pennsylvania Superintendent of the Year
