INDUSTRY INSIGHT HEALTH ISSUES SPONSORED CONTENT A Testimony from a Reluctant Patient… I have a confession to make…for way too long, when friends and family would ask, “How are you?” I would answer “GREAT. Thanks for asking.” And I was…kind of, sort of! No high blood pressure, my cholesterol and weight are good, no diabetes, heart disease or other major illness. And I am not taking any medications to control any of these issues. For my age, that’s pretty darn good! EXCEPT…I was in denial and not being totally honest with myself. For way too long I have been suffering with digestive issues. On any given day my stomach was grumbling and hurting. Without oversharing, I always knew where the bathroom was! I tried eliminating certain foods from my diet and even adding a probiotic. I would be OK for a few days, maybe even a week, and the issues would set back in again. In February I came down with an infection that I just couldn’t get rid of and finally resorted to an antibiotic. After several days of the medication my stomach and digestive system were in total chaos. In March I saw Dr. Corcetti at a business networking event and he mentioned that I didn’t look so perky! I told him why and even shared my ongoing issues with him. Why? I guess at that moment I was so frustrated I realized I needed help. We scheduled a time to meet and after a long, probing conversation and exam he also learned that I had been diagnosed with osteoporosis some time back. I had been on several different medications without any improvement. The specialist I was seeing was considering a very aggressive treatment if my next DEXA scan results did not stabilize. Dr. Corcetti’s diagnosis was that I was suffering from some fairly significant and chronic digestive inflammation; so much so that not only was my immune system suffering but I was not able to absorb nutrients or medication. Dr. Corcetti prescribed three different natural supplements from Standard Process along with my calcium. Guess what? In about a week I started to notice a difference in my health and behavior. And after three months I had another DEXA scan and the results were amazing. The doctor asked what I was doing, because not only had my osteoporosis not gotten any worse, it had shown improvement. Whatever I was doing, he said, I should continue. I am happy to share with you that once I was able to reduce the digestive inflammation, the quality of my life improved. I have never been good at taking pills, but the natural ingredients in Standard Process are providing the nutritional support to keep me active and healthy. Dr. Corcetti listened to me and really understood how to treat me as an individual, and my symptoms. Thanks Dr. Corcetti!
