Burgh Bites’ AUTUMN MENU & HOLIDAY CATERING

Will Brighten Any Table

If you thought you’ ve had it all when it comes to modern American dining, think again and head over to Brick n’ Mortar, where the menu is more colorful than autumn leaves.

“ The Autumn menu is a slate of original recipes that my chefs and I came up with especially for the season,” said owner Ricci Minella, who’ s been a longtime fixture on the Pittsburgh culinary scene. With a strong emphasis on traditional Italian recipes culled from his family’ s heritage, Minella’ s booming Burgh Bites food truck business facilitated the opening of Brick n’ Mortar earlier this year to rave reviews.
Nowhere else will you find seasonal specials like the Harvest Corn Chowder, which is a medley of charred corn, roasted pumpkin, cream, prosciutto and crispy sage served up with homemade torts. In fact, sage is a common spice thread throughout the menu that uses the ancient herb in new and unique ways.
“ The Fall Sage and Sausage Burger is something that we put together for a chef’ s best dish event two years ago,” Minella said.“ We presented it on a skewer and won the event, so we decided to reinvent it as a burger for the fall menu and people are loving it.”
The ½-pound sausage patty is served with brick cheese, bacon braised cabbage, caramelized apples, a honey balsamic glaze and sage aioli on a pretzel bun.
If you have a sweet tooth, Brick n’ Mortar teamed up with Mercurio’ s of Shadyside to put together an Apple Pie Gelato that is served with homemade biscotti that will make you feel like you’ re in Naples, Italy instead of Pittsburgh.
In addition to these one-of-a-kind dishes, Brick n’ Mortar has weekly specials that will surprise you. The restaurant seats 22 inside and the patio has room for 8 people and is open as weather permits. There’ s also an upstairs party room for reservations. The decor of Brick n’ Mortar is as unique as the menu with vintage wine bottle chandeliers and live edge tables carved from locally-sourced wood in Imperial. Beer and wine is served gratis, and can bring your own bottle if you wish.
The Autumn menu will be available through Thanksgiving, but if
you can’ t make it in to Brick n’ Mortar, their catering is available for any gathering or event. The holiday catering menu will be available in the upcoming weeks and one week’ s notice is recommended for planning your holiday event.
Brick n’ Mortar has offerings for those who are gluten-free and vegetarian. If you’ re looking for a new favorite place, give them a try Tuesdays through Thursdays from 11 a. m. to 9 p. m., and Friday and Saturdays from 11 a. m. to 10 p. m. They are located at 1709 East Railroad Street, 15106. You can call in orders at 412.229.7119. Their full menu is online at burghbitestruck. com and you can find out where the truck is daily from their Facebook feed at facebook. com / theburghbitescart.
