REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR THE 2024 EQT PITTSBURGH 10 MILER AND 10K
Registration is open for the 2024 EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler and 10K , celebrating Global Running Day . Organized by P3R , the event is expected to draw more than 5,000 participants on Nov . 3 .
Starting near Station Square , the 10-mile course offers stunning views of Pittsburgh ’ s skyline and rivers , passing through four neighborhoods , while the 10K starts on the North Shore near PNC Park . Both races finish on Liberty Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh .
The event is part of P3R ’ s new Triple Crown Challenge , offering a special edition medal for those who also participate in the DICK ’ S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend and America ’ s Mile . The 10K Walking Division is also available , making it an inclusive event for all fitness levels .

SEASON PASSES AVAILABLE FOR THE PITTSBURGH SAVOYARDS ’ 87TH SEASON
The Pittsburgh Savoyards theater company is currently offering season passes for its 87th season for $ 70 . PIA ANNOUNCES NEW FINANCIAL AID FOR STUDENTS DISPLACED BY SUDDEN SCHOOL CLOSURES
The Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics ( PIA ), a school for aviation maintenance , has introduced a new grant for students whose previous educational institutions closed unexpectedly . The Displaced Student Assistance Grant offers $ 1,500 per term , amounting up to $ 10,500 for an Associate in Specialized Technology degree or $ 6,000 for an Aviation Maintenance Technology diploma / certificate . This grant is designed to aid students in achieving educational and career goals despite the setback of their former school closing . PIA provides support and career guidance across its campuses in Pittsburgh , Youngstown , Hagerstown and Myrtle Beach .
With a high demand for aviation maintenance technicians ( AMTs ) due to a nationwide shortage , PIA graduates enjoy strong job prospects , with a 90 % employment rate and starting salaries between $ 48,000 and $ 58,000 . The aviation industry needs 125,000 new mechanics over the next 20 years , offering a lucrative and stable career path for aspiring AMTs .
CHATHAM UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES NEW SCHOOL OF BUSINESS & ENTERPRISE , AND SPORTS MANAGEMENT DEGREE
Chatham University is launching the new School of Business & Enterprise ( SBE ) in the 2024-25 academic year , offering core business skills enhanced by critical thinking . Led by Debbie DeLong , Ph . D ., the school will feature programs intersecting
Debbie DeLong business with sustainability , health care and sports management .
A new Bachelor of Science in Sports Management degree will start recruiting for the fall 2025 cohort , focusing on data analytics , finance , marketing and leadership in professional and collegiate sports . The program aims to develop skills in athlete representation , event planning , facility management and sports promotion .
Kevin Acklin , president of business operations for the Pittsburgh Penguins , praised the initiative for its potential economic impact and opportunities for students .
The new school will also encompass Chatham ’ s existing business programs , including undergraduate degrees in accounting , economics , management , international business , data science analytics and marketing , and an MBA program offered in hybrid and online formats .
