joined forces with the charity Extra Life
to raise funds for Children’s Hospital
of Pittsburgh. Students are invited to
join our team, the Dewey Decimators,
find a sponsor, and start gaming!

games and puppets. For children ages 3-6
and their families.
All-ages board and video games will be
available throughout the event. Middle
school students can stay for an after-hours
lock-in and keep the high score climbing.
Interactive Pixel Pets
3 p.m., Monday, August 21
Middle school kids will create a digital pixel
pet using a Raspberry Pi and a Sense HAT.
Learn how to code in Python and use the
Sense HAT’s accelerometer to take your
pixel pet for a walk. Registration starts
Tuesday, August 1.

Learn about the science of 3D design and
work on a cool 3D printed project with the

crew. For elementary school aged kids third
grade and up. Registration begins Friday,

Make a Recycled Planter
2:30 p.m., Friday, July 28
Kids entering 6th-8th grade can use
recycled materials to make and decorate
a self-watering planter—perfect for herbs
and flowers.
Yoga en Espanol
7 p.m., Mondays, July 31- August 28
Kids ages 10 through high school are
invited to these 60-minute basic Vinyasa
Yoga classes taught in Spanish with
Barbara Garcia-Bernardo, a native of
Spain and certified yoga instructor.
The class is suitable for all levels and no
prior experience is required. The flowing
sequence will help you build strength,
increase flexibility, find mental focus, and
teach you how to listen to your body.
Each class will begin with warm-up flows,
followed by a creative standing/balancing
series, floor work, and stretching, and end
with a savasana (a resting pose). Each
participant should bring a yoga mat,
small towel and water. Great for Spanish
language students.

Lebo Lab: Cardboard Construction
6:30 p.m., Monday, July 10 and Tuesday,

What can you build with cardboard,
scissors and duct tape? A bowling alley? A
funhouse? A castle? A maze? Team up with
family and friends to plan, build and staff
your own cardboard carnival, then invite
others in to play with your creations—and
demolish it all when you’re done! For kids
entering 4th, 5th and 6th grade. Please
register for this two-day program.
Club 24

Avoid the math-fact slide! New, exciting
math games each week, including 24 Math,
Ken-Ken, Buzz, Shut-the-Box, and more.
Kids will use mental math, problem-solving
skills, and math facts to play team games.
For kids entering grades 5 and 6.
Earthquake Building Survival Challenge
5 p.m., Monday, July 17
Can you build a structure that can survive
a simulated earthquake? Join the Carnegie
Science Center’s Mobile Fab Lab crew and
test out your ideas. Better yet, your parents
can help too. For kids third grade and up
and their families. Registration begins
June 30.
Chess Camp
6:30 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday, July 18-20
Learn new moves and strategies and have
fun playing with other kids. All levels of
chess play. For kids entering 1st-7th grade.
Stuffed Animal Sleepover
Dropoff: Anytime, Friday, July 21
Pickup: 10 a.m., Saturday, July 22
Kids can drop off their stuffed animals
at the library between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
